On grass, soil or sand the ground itself is the anchorage — and weight is worthless. A 12 kg steel plate laid on soft ground sinks and leans within a day, while a spike driven below the surface holds. This is the family for parks, sports events, festival fields, beaches and roadside verges.

Drop-in or screw-in
There are two ways to get a spike into the ground, and the choice is about the ground, not the price:
- Drop-in stake — straight shaft, driven with the foot or a mallet. Fast, and the right answer in firm soil and in grass that has been watered. It needs the soil to grip the shaft.
- Spiral anchor — twisted into the ground like a screw. Slower to fit, but it resists being pulled back out, which is what a tall feather flag in a gust actually does. Better in sand and in loose or repeatedly-used ground.
Rotation on soft ground matters more than on hard ground
If the flag cannot swing, the wind loads the spike sideways and the shaft works loose in the soil — a failure that appears as the flag slowly leaning over the day. The chrome ground spike and the plastic spiral anchor are both supplied with rotation for this reason.
Pole sleeve
Standard 14.5–16.7 mm, other diameters made to order. The plastic spiral anchor’s sleeve is built at the 16.7 mm standard.
